The Ninefold Concord of Cerynus Outpost

A lot has happened in the last three years at the outpost. Once only a brave fortress on the edge of the frontier, it has since grown into a strange yet prosperous community. The Dream Wood remains perilous, but homesteaders have come from far and wide to settle its lands, building farms and businesses. For many, the dream is simple: survive a year and a day—at which point the land becomes theirs to shape as they see fit.

This is the golden age of a land rush. People of all walks of life move into the Dream Wood, hoping to strike it rich or at least secure a home upon their own soil. As a result, the outpost has had to evolve from a mere military bulwark into a system of land management and governance. With the population swelling, a single Outpost Commander and one Magistrate were no longer enough to oversee its needs.

As new nobility has risen, more hands have been needed to manage the land and its people. Drawing upon the strengths of each Order, the Ninefold Concord now serves as an advisory council to the Outpost Commander—giving the populace a voice and a means to have their concerns heard. This is a governing body free of guilds, lobbyists, or naked ambition. Its design is simple: to bring together the best among us to build a better way forward.

Now that the Dark Prince has gone to atone, Lilah is no more, and the Beings of Power lie in slumber, the burden of survival falls to mortals. It is upon our laws, our hands, and our civilization that the future rests.

The Ninefold Concord serves as the local governing body for the Cerynus Outpost. Comprised of the Seven voting Orders and the newly recognized Eighth Order, the Concord functions as a council of bureaucrats and stewards, offering guidance on matters of law, trade, diplomacy, and survival.

Though the Orders hold voice and influence, they serve strictly as advisors—holding their seats at the pleasure of the Commander. The Outpost Commander remains the final authority on all decisions, while the Concord’s purpose is to guide, warn, and present the collective perspective of the Orders. While the Magistrate’s former role has now been folded into the council of eight advisors, leaving one representative from each Order to guide the Commander. No longer an exclusive office, the Magistrate’s responsibilities are now shared equally among the Orders. In this way, the outpost has outgrown the notion of a central magistrate and embraced a council that mirrors the Grand Concord itself.
